The hottest thing to come out of Hollywood in years is costume designer Paul McAvene's Decorative Pillows, Throws, Wraps and Fresco Fragment Sculptures. This veteran of the entertainment industry has tossed his hat into the home furnishings and decorative accessories industry with amazing success. December 26 2003--Paul McAvene of McAvene Designs inc. laughs when called a renaissance man who can do anything, but agrees that theres nothing his talented hands arent afraid to try.

For twenty years hes called Hollywood home. Designing costumes for major celebrities and high profile stage, screen and T.V. events. He admits hes a newcomer to the home accessories industry but is quick to add, the inherent concepts of design and creation are the same, whether Im designing a beaded gown, a pillow or the interior to a pediatrics care center.

With a flare for the dramatic, and a love for classic art, hes skillfully created a decorative accessories line for the home.
The collection features exquisite pillows, throws and wraps as well as complimentary, one of a kind Fresco Fragment sculptures. All are individually hand crafted art pieces. He utilizes the most luxurious silks, velvets, beading, and vintage images from the great artists of the past, to bring a truly unique vision to life.

I was giving a student lecture and referred to Michelangelo. One of the students raised there hand and said whos that? After my shock wore off and I answered the question, I began to feel a sense of responsibility to do my part to keep the work of the great historical artists from being forgotten.".

A prolific painter, illustrator and sculptor himself he hopes to introduce some of his original work into the line in the near future. I dont want to be dead, before my art can be appreciated. Selfishly, I want to be around to experience the joy and pleasure my work can bring people.

In addition Mr. McAvene would like to celebrate the brilliance of other modern day artists in the collection as well. The 2004 spring collection will incorporate the work of other young artists from around the world.

Ive never been content with good enough I've had a primal drive since I was a kid, to stretch the envelope and make people question the world and conditions around us. After 9/11 the world negatively changed. I want the sadness weve all been carrying around since that day to be washed away. Anything that makes you smile, forget your problems or reach out with a compassionate hand to another, does just that.I hope my work can do that for people. I need to believe Im making a difference...no matter how small.
